Swimmers’ Guidelines and Practice Schedule


Viking Aquatic Club is a competitive swim club - not a learn-to-swim program.  
Please arrive on time and prepared to practice.

Below are guidelines for each level of swimmer.  If you have a question as to 
which swim group your swimmer belongs, the coaches will ultimately make the 
decision of where to place him/her.

Training Groups 

Mini VAC or Beginner: This level teaches young swimmers the fundamentals of competitive swimming. 

·      Swimmer must be able to complete 25 yards freestyle

·      3 practices per week for 1 hour. 

 

 Novice: This level allows group members to progress at a rate appropriate to their age.

·      Swimmers must be able to do all four competitive strokes.

·      Should attend at least 3 practices per week for 1 hour.

 

 Junior: This group level prepares swimmers to compete at the regional level.

·      Swimmers must demonstrate the ability and desire to train at a high level.

·      Should attend at least 4 practices per week for 2 hours.

 

 Senior: This level provides competitive swimmers with the highest training level to reach their potential.

·      Must attend at least 4 practices per week for 2 hours.

·      Ages 13 & up or 11&12 year olds who have made a J.O. cut.
