Viking Aquatic Club Parent Commitments
1. Responsibility for helping swimmers to achieve an 80% attendance commitment for practice. 2. Responsibility for helping swimmers attend all ESSL scheduled team competitions and encourage participation in scheduled USA swim meets. Remember, competitions are simply an extension of the training program. 3. Responsibility for communicating with the coaching staff regarding all family commitments that affect practice or competition schedule. 4. Responsibility for communicating with the coaching staff all physical or psychological concerns affecting the effort level of the swimmer. 5. Responsibility for the organization and execution of the duties of the club as determined by the Board of Directors. 6. Responsibility for direct involvement in all fund raising activities as determined by the Club Board of Directors. Present involvement requires a family member to participate in at least five sessions of the team scheduled USA meets. Additional help is required for ESSL meets. Parent Do’s & Don’ts 1. Please have your swimmer arrive ten minutes prior to all scheduled practices or warm-up sessions for team competition. 2. Please have your swimmer picked up immediately following all scheduled practices or competitions. 3. All 12 & under swimmers MUST be supervised while present in the Valley Central Natatorium prior to and following all scheduled practices. 4. All children not attending a practice MUST remain in the mezzanine/spectator area and MUST be supervised by an adult at all times. 5. DO NOT lean over the rail of the spectator area during practice sessions. 6. DO NOT distract swimmers or coaches from the spectator area with conversation or hand signals. 7. DO NOT at any time walk onto the pool deck during practice sessions or competitions. 8. DO NOT attempt to offer coaching advice to swimmers or coaches at any time. Remember, your role as a parent is to support both swimmer and coach. 9. DO NOT in any way interfere with the efforts of the coaching staff regarding the teaching or conditioning of athletes. 10. Please converse with a member of the coaching staff concerning your child’s progress prior to or following the practice session only. 11. DO NOT attempt to place your performance expectations on your child’s swimming experience. 12. All questions concerning the operation or policies of the Viking Aquatic Club should be directed to a member of the Board of Directors.
